Room N is a Bit Fishy

It is all just a little fishy!
We have had two changes of baking soda. The fish are still a little soft but are drying out nicely.

We have had some great discussions about what will be left once we have finished:
 - just bones
 - it will all disappear
 - the eyes have dissolved
 - They are rotting

This discussion lead to some research - do bones rot down?
Most students said no because the skeleton is the last thing to decompose. Then we moved onto fossils. Some of the students remembered what fossils are composed of - from our Rock unit in Term 2.

Another two weeks and we should be done.

Zippy Room N

Everyone loves art. We created some zip art - thin strips of paper cut into tabs. Folding the tabs alternately creates the zip appearance. It takes concentration, control and fine motor skills.

Lions poem by Jaxon

Loud Growls!
In the jungle
On the ground lazily lying.The
Night is eerily silent as they
Stealthly tip toe through the forest

Apes poem by Regan

Ants are my favourite thing to eat.
People try to hunt me down
Enormous bodies to take car of our babies
Swinging around the trees

Dogs poem by Jamie

Digging deep holes under the ground to find his bone
Of we we go to get my puppy
Good dogs sometimes they get treats
Swimming in the lake with Roxy my pet.

We are lucky to have Crete and Brad at school teaching us a traditional Maori game called Ki o Rahi. It sounded very tricky but by the end of our session we were awesome. We look forward to getting better each week!

The Bear

One stinking hot summer day I was minding my own business.  All I could hear was the birds tweeting and squawking, and my fishing line plopping in the water.  Then I heard something roaring.  I thought it was a deer, but when it came around the corner it was a bear.  Aww! A huge brown bear.  Just then I froze, "Oh no! The bear is coming this way."  I closed my eyes waiting for its white fangs to sink into my flesh.  But instead it gave me a big sloppy lick that felt like eel slime sliding across my face.  The bear had to eat all the salmon I caught.  "Come on, man.  Why did you do that!"

ROAR!

Olympic Medals Rock

Room N Rocking Art Rotation

Room N was the centre of cave drawing.  We had a quick look at some famous paintings from the south of France.

Then we had a quick go ourselves.

Finally we were set free to draw in our own little cave (or as close as we could get to a cave).  It was hard to draw on the bottom of the desks.  We even had a surprise visitor - Can you spot him?

Have a look at some of our finished work
